EESTI FOTOKUNSTIMESS 2014
PHOTOGRAPHIC ART FAIR 2014

Andres Lõo

Andres Lõo is multi-talented in the finest sense of the word. Primarily a musician, Lõo’s work also includes a painting depicting the letter “A” – which, for him, says everything there is to say in painting.

“Good Company” does not contain this kind of ambition of totality, although it does display a fair amount of the desire to be monumental. The theme of the work is Lõo’s close relationship with his grandmother, from whom, as he claims, he inherited the rock’n’roll gene. The photograph is taken three months before his grandmother died and she is wearing Lõo’s coat as a symbolic gesture. The sincere homely atmosphere of the photograph celebrates the personal memories of the artist as well as human values in general.

The photograph is also used on the cover of an instrumental album of music, bearing the same title, published online and dedicated to the memory of his grandmother.

As Andres Lõo’s album has been the background for writing most of the introductory texts for the photography fair, it has become the unofficial soundtrack for the fair.
